Professor Adrian SmithSchool of GeographyProfileProfileMy main interests are in economic geography, the political economy of cities and regions, global production networks, economic (in)security, and the restructuring of industries in post-socialist East-Central Europe and North Africa. I was trained in human geography and development studies, and my interests continue to focus on the relations between uneven development and political economy. For many years I have worked on the economic and social consequences of transformation in Slovakia, Bulgaria and Poland and more recently have been researching the post-Arab Spring integration of the Tunisian economy into the EU Single Market through clothing production networks. I am also Editor in Chief of the journal European Urban and Regional Studies. Professor Adrian Smith's full staff profile.Research
