Profile

Silvia Sovic obtained her first degree at the University of Ljubljana in history and anthropology, followed by an MA in Computer Applications for History at the University of London, and a PhD in historical demography at the University of Essex. She studied at the European University Institute in Florence and the University of Graz.  She has held research posts in family history at the Universities of Ljubljana, Graz and Cambridge. In 2010 she organised an international conference on ‘The History of Families and Households: Comparative European Dimensions’ at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London, which resulted in The History of Families and Households: Comparative Dimensions (Leiden: Brill, 2016), and a special issue of The History of the Family.

Silvia has taught quantitative and qualitative analysis and other research methods for humanities graduate students. She has also led various pedagogical research projects at the University of Arts, London and University College London.
